Having the perfect shampoo is one of the most important hair care tips that any person can have.
People are under the misconception that spending a great deal of money on expensive hair treatments will give them the perfect looking hair. However, if people were to follow many one of the many hair care tips that are available today, they should follow the one that says that having a good shampoo will give you great looking hair no matter what you do.
There are something that people should know however about finding a perfect shampoo. Not all shampoos are good for your hair. Also people should know how to wash their hair and how frequently they do should do so. There are those who think that washing their hair every day is the only way to have healthy hair while others believe that it should be every second or third day. The key is to know how to wash your hair no matter what day you wash it on.
When you wash your hair the first thing you should do is completely saturate the scalp with warm or cool water. The water should never be scalding hot. It is recommended that you wash your hair in cold water but some people find this hard to do. Place a small amount of shampoo in your hands and before applying it to your hair you should rub it between your hands to create a small lather. Once you have lathered the shampoo you can rub it gently into your hair and scalp.
If you hair is straight then it is good idea to wash your hair every day, as straight hair is more likely to become greasy and oily faster. Washing it every day will help to create a healthy sleek look. However, if you have wav, curly hair then you should avoid washing it every day. Every second or third day is fine, as it will keep the hair from becoming dry and frizzy.

What are blackheads’
Blackheads are small ‘plugs’ that develop in the pores of the skin. They are caused when the over active sebaceous (oil producing) glands in the skin become clogged with oil. This sebum then begins to harden in the pore. Since skin pores are open to the air, the top part of the hardened sebum or oil oxidizes, turning black. This black top of the oil plug is then forced closer to the surface of skin by the oil hardening beneath it. This then causes the blackhead to be visible.
It is not clearly understood why the sebaceous glands begin to become overactive. It is often noted that this situation begins at puberty, and may stop at the end of puberty leading to the conclusion that it is hormonally controlled. For some people this is not the case however, and they may continue to experience blackheads and whiteheads well past puberty and into adulthood. Whiteheads are formed the same way as blackheads with the exception that the pore is closed and the oxidation does not occur.
Acne results from infection of the oil gland due to the blockage by the blackhead. Preventing and removing blackheads helps to control acne.
Blackhead Removal
The following are some tips for removing blackheads:
- Keep the skin as clean and oil free as possible. Use natural or chemically prepared cleansers, astringent solutions or masks to accomplish this. Avoid harsh soaps that may irritate the skin or any creams that leave an oily finish.
- Use a gentle exfoliant to keep the dead cells off your skin and away from the pore openings.
- Avoid harsh squeezing or scraping at the blackhead. Excessive squeezing can damage the skin surround the pore and can actually increase the size of the pore leading to more blackheads in the future.
- A warm compress of water applied to the area of the blackhead followed by a very, very gentle pressure can help in clearing the clog from the pore.
- Commercial ‘blackhead strips’ which are basically a tape like substance that is placed over the nose and then pulled off will remove some blackheads that are at the surface. Caution should be used with these products and it is important to read the directions completely before deciding to use the strips or not.

- Mascara basics: To avoid mascara smudging, apply a thin layer to the top lashes only and then use an eyelash brush.
- Natural glow: A gel blush or cream gives a more natural look than a powder.
- Brow beauty: For a natural look, eyebrows must not look pencil thin. Use a definer for extra volume.
- Eyeliner tips: Use liquid liner instead of a pencil, to avoid smudging in the crease of the lid.

According to the New York Times, cosmetics companies are getting more and more high tech in their search for effective antiaging skin are products. Matching the leaps of technology in the pharmaceuticals and biotechnology industries, cosmetics manufacturers are getting more and more sophisticated, not only perfecting the antiaging ingredient itself, but also making the delivery system more efficient.
Researchers are looking for substances that have particle sizes optimized for delivery of the wrinkle relieving ingredients to where it will do the most good.
For years, cosmetic companies have relied on plant extracts to aide in the absorption of the cosmetics into the skin. Now the companies are researching such delivery systems as mineral spheres and time release technology.
In effect, the companies are combining ancient herbal treatments with high technological advances to create skin care products that really do work.
This research has borne fruit. There are now products for sale that rely on these new technologies to make sure that the antiaging ingredients are very efficiently absorbed by the body.
For example, Estee Lauder Future Perfect Anti-Wrinkle Radiance Cream uses what the company calls “cell vector technology”. Little spheres of protein like material are used to enclose the active antiaging ingredients. These spheres penetrate the skin where they are slowly dissolved by enzymes.
Fine lines & wrinkles are reduced much faster with this method. Since the product also contains a sunscreen, it also defends the skin against damaging UV rays.
Another product to use innovative technology is Freeze 24/7 Anti-Wrinkle Cream. This product uses GABA, an amino acid with many useful properties, including that of a natural muscle relaxant. GABA, itself, cannot penetrate the skin, but it stimulates gynostemma, a plant extract that can, to relax the muscles that cause wrinkles and creases.
Among the benefits of this product are: it eliminates a majority of fine lines and wrinkles quickly after application: its “Age Reversal Technology” with GABA neurotransmission inhibitors work to diminish forehead creases, droopy brows, crow’s feet, laugh lines, and more; it significantly reduces the appearance of acne scars, stretch marks, rosacea, and enlarged pores; and gives the skin a plumper, more youthful appearance.
Finally, Estee Lauder and Neutrogena have found a way to reduce the size of zinc and titanium oxide particles so that they are small enough to be invisible on the skin. You can have the benefit of some of the strongest sun blockers around without having to look like a clown.
It seems like the cosmetics companies are coming up with more and more winners. For those of us looking for “Botox in bottle”, it looks more promising than ever that we might be successful in our hunt.

A mere 2 percent of women consider themselves beautiful, and only 9 percent feel comfortable describing themselves as attractive, according to a survey of 3,200 women ages 18-64 in 10 countries, conducted by Dove with psychologist Nancy Etcoff, Ph.D., and Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard University.
“The study shows that women are less satisfied with their beauty than with almost any other dimension of life,” Etcoff explains.
In conjunction with the study, Dove is working through the Unilever Foundation to sponsor programs that help build self-confidence for girls in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada. Click on campaignforrealbeauty.com for more information

After five years of research, celebrity stylist Ellin LaVar unveils Ellin LaVar Textures, her own line of hair-care and styling products, We checked in with the style goddess, and asked about her latest hair venture and for tips on serving up gorgeous healthy hair
Why did you create Textures?
I want my clients to have the best hair they can outside the salon. There aren’t many lines that can provide salonlike style and improve the condition of all hair textures. I knew there was a market that wasn’t being served.
What’s your favorite product in the line?

The NourishOil. It’s designed to penetrate the cuticle, so the hair is thoroughly nourished and moisturized. It’s a great pretreatment before relaxing, and it’s also excellent for locks, making them soft without leaving residue. Because of the way the bottle’s nozzle is designed, you can easily maneuver between wefts and cornrows. And it’s a superb overnight treatment for any type of hair. It leaves the hair softer and well-hydrated in the morning.
What’s the real deal on greasing the scalp?
It’s important, especially for someone who doesn’t produce enough sebum. Where we go wrong is by using products that clog the scalp. Grape-seed and pequi oils–two highly nourishing ingredients in NourishOil–are lightweight, but the formula still effectively penetrates the scalp and feeds the hair. A garment label is more than just a piece of fabric. It communicates with the customer. It is something that draws the attention of the customer to the garment. It describes what the product actually is. In today’s times, labels actually help in selling a garment. Customers decide whether to buy a piece of apparel or not on the basis of its label.
What labels do?
Labels communicate to the customer what types of materials have been used in making the garment. They communicate how to care for the garment and other special instructions about it. They communicate the size of the garment. They communicate the name of the manufacturer. They communicate the brand. Different manufacturers use their own special type of labels to create their own distinct identity. A label might be custom-made by a manufacturer to make it unique. Beautiful, customized labels add to the beauty and style of the garment.
Each brand produced by the manufacturer is usually distinguishable on the basis of a special symbol, color or word. This is reflected through the label. The customer looks to the label of a garment to identify the brand and thereby, gauge the quality of the product.

Well, aside from an on-hand 24-hour liposuction crew, more face-lifts than downtown New York and the sweetest of one-cal sugar daddies…not much! Happily, with the on-line world of information and affordable choice, those inconvenient inadequacies, stretched elastics and even tighter purse strings are as they say, excuse my French, ‘Passé.’ With the Internet’s choices, there really aren’t any excuses not to update our wardrobes and still stay within budget! So what are the hottest fashion tendencies, colors, accessories and jewelry styles for the summer 2007?
Some of the most appealing concepts and styles for this summer are ‘Futuristic’ –based around geometrics in metallic silver and gold, ‘Monochrome’ – Beat classic black and white styling, ‘Tribal’ – Ethnic global styles and ‘Baby Pastel’ colors that dominate this summer’s tendencies.
Monochrome
Monochrome is everywhere this summer from Dior, Givenchy to YSL. Think of the concept a long the lines of the Beat generation of the 1960s, and the model Edie Sedgwick of Warhol’s Factory.
Black and whites are incredibly classy, sophisticated and above all easy to put together. All clothing is acceptable, but especially hot are mini dresses, slacks and shorts. Go for patterns of big bold swirls, stripes, diamonds, checks and dogs-tooth just as long as they are black and white your safe.
A far as accessories are concerned big black sunglasses are a must, and when I say big I mean Jackie Onassis big. Jewelry is preferable in 60’s hip styling, big hoop and drop earrings, cocktail rings and bracelets echoing the New York monochrome set. Some really lovely matching gems to consider are black onyx and black and white mother of pearl, again this would look better set into silver for the overall look, and considering silver is the in-color highly appropriate.
